Spokesperson for the Israeli Government, Fleur Hassan-Nahoum has said that stories about starvation in Gaza are all lies.
She stated in an interview with James Naughtie on BBC The World This Weekend “You’ve been hearing lies about starvation [in Gaza] for two years . . .
The Gaza Humanitarian foundation was set up for one main purpose to give food . . .(indistinct words) into the hands . . . (?) to the terrorists who sell food to their own people while starving their own people.
Since they were set up a few months ago there have been 52 million meals given out.”
The interview, broadcast on 20 July 2025 can be heard on BBC Sounds till 18th August 2025, approximately 21 minutes into the programme.
The day following that interview the BBC Today programme took up that claim. Jeremy Bowen, asked to comment on the statements of Fleur Hassan-Nahoum, said “Everything she said is not borne out by the facts.” [Interview broadcast after the 8 0’clock news.]
