I was very sorry to hear of the death of Herbie Flowers on 5 September 2024. He will be missed by the hundreds of musicians who worked with him, the countless young musicians he encouraged and the many thousands of people who came time and time again to his concerts, especially his “Jazz Breakfasts”.  He was a hugely important figure in the local music scene in Sussex and loved by so many people for the music he brought to them, his witty and often bizarre stage banter, his warmth, kindness and gentle charm.
